The
nationally and internationally acclaimed, award winning El Dorado High
School Marching Band and Colorguard has been invited to perform in the
121st Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2010.
This will be the El Dorado Band and Colorguard's second
appearance in the world famous New Year's Day Parade.
The invitation came during an El Dorado football game in the fall of 2008, when Tournament of Roses Parade President Gary DiSano and Music Chair Dr. Stacy Houser addressed the band and audience with the official invitation at Bradford Stadium. Also present for the announcement were El Dorado assistant principal John Bellows, assistant superintendent Doug Domene, and district superintendent Dr. Dennis Smith. The El Dorado High School Band and Colorguard will be the only band from Orange County to have performed in the prestigious Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade in the past quarter of a century. An estimated one million people will line the five and one half mile parade route down Colorado Boulevard and in addition an estimated 350 million viewers around the world will watch the Rose Parade on television. The El Dorado High School Golden Hawks Marching Band and Colorguard under the direction of Richard Watson has an impressive resume, having performed in the Rose Parade in 2005, the Queen Victoria Parade in Vancouver Canada, and the Opening Ceremonies at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Australia to name a few.
