Hawaii Invitational - Day 5 -
Friday, April 13 After a free morning in Waikiki, the busses came at 1:30 to pick us up at the hotel. We drove to Kamehameha High School, which is located on a hillside overlooking Honolulu, with a spectacular view. We started in the gym, with the drumline and winterguard performances. Then they served us dinner, and after dinner we went out to the field. Steve Schill started things out with his L-pattern drum major competition. After that, EDHS took the field for the final performance of "Winds and Percussion in Motion", which looked and sounded great despite the addition of some sprinklers in the right end-zone. Following EDHS, Kamehameha took the field to perform its field show, which was excellent. Then we went back to the gym for some exhibition performances by groups such as Chinese Lion Dancers and the University of Hawaii drumline. Prior to the awards the gym turned into a dance floor and the students had great fun while the amused parents looked on. Finally the tiki awards were handed out, with EDHS collecting a large share of the top awards. Everyone enjoyed holding the tikis, sharing in the fun of the moment and the satisfaction of a successful week. Click on a picture to view it full size |
